Stephen checking in....shots from this past weekend

Hello!
So, this was a crazy busy weekend for the studio, but everything was great. Shot some great children's portrait's Thursday night, off to a great wedding on Friday, a sweet 16 on Saturday and another great wedding on Sunday. It was hot and steamy on all of the shoots, which is standard for this time of the year in New York, but everybody played nice and I was extremely happy with the results.

Take a look-see:

2) Sergio and Felicia
These guys are friends of mine. Great day. Beautiful Church.  Helluva Party...and a little romance too...

And then on to Adam and Rachel...First we started at the ACE Hotel - which I highly recommend. Great staff and great decor.

and there are so many more, but I hope you guys get the idea!

Latest updates...already!

Haha! Okay, so I just posted all this news yesterday, but after further meetings that just happened, we are NOT moving the studio downstairs, the printing area will now be down there in it's own room. The studio is going to go through some minor renovations, knocking down walls for the production department, making the photo studio more private, and putting a small showroom for our partner company Porta Decor (portable furniture for events).

We are also going to be introduced with a new name, new corporate identity since this summer we are officially merging with Leo and Joe's company.....so long with the old and in with the new. Here's to many successful future endeavors!!!

More news to come verrrry shortly

Renovating, reconstructing, new beginnings....2010

Hello from Stephen Andrews Studios. It's been over a year now since we've updated our blog. Since last year Stephen Andrews has had some great new challenges and exciting ventures. We will now have other team members contributing to our blog to keep everyone abreast on our adventures, shoots, random thoughts and discussions. My name is Diane, the studio art director. I've seen Stephen's first steps into photography eons ago, and thrilled to be a part of his growth as a wonderful photographer. As of 2010 we've gained another head photographer named Leo, who has over 15 years of professional event photography experience. We also welcomed a new in-house videographer, Joe, who has worked alongside Leo for numerous years. Mike also comes on staff as an experienced, talented designer. Aside from our in-house staff, we work with a list of well experienced, wonderful group of freelance photographers, designers, videographers and video editors. (Headshots coming soon!)

With the expansion of our staff, we've expanded our studio space and are now in the midst of expanding further by moving our photography studio from the 2nd floor space to occupy a former dance studio on the first floor.....it's going to be lots of work to renovate but we're determined to have it up and running soon. See the photos below BUT just to note, these photos are from my Blackberry and in no way represents the brilliant shots the photographers would've taken if they were in at the time I decided to take them (...I was threatened -politely- to make sure I made that clear. ha!ha!ha!).

Bye, bye graffiti walls...

...bye, bye mirrored walls

AAANNNND aside from our new studio renovation, I forgot to mention our new printing capabilities. We can now print large format posters and photos! What a convenient edition! We are also renovating and beautifying the bar/cafe space we have where clients and staff can soon enjoy coffee, beverages and snacks when they come in for meetings and/or shoots! yum, yum! Come over and relax!

Computers, color printers, cutting boards, oh my!!

Cafe de Stephen Andrews...
to come!

We have more exciting news coming including a new website design/navigation, so stick around!

Yours truly, Diane

Less than 3 Weeks to go...

Well, for those of you that know me, you'll know that we are expecting a baby girl on April 16th. This was a 3-minute shoot with my wife and son and we loved the way this shot came out.

Baby Time

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of shooting a mother-daughter portrait session. I decided to mimic a shot I had seen somewhere, once upon a time and really loved the way it turned out. I love the softness of the baby perfectly framed by the circle and then the mix of elements - the soft baby skin with the hardness of the steel and wood. Sounds a little contrived, but it's true. The second shot is another favorite of mine from the session.
